Okay, here we are, in LaSalle, Illinois at Rotary Park, October 24th, 2026. We’re doing the walk for polio, to eradicate polio. Polio awareness. This is international, not only United States, but International Polio Day.
Mike Dudak:
And everybody at the same time.
Don Wede :
Everybody at the same time in 11 states, Central Standard Time, are doing this walk here at 10:00 on Saturday. We’ve got a pretty good turnout here. I’d say we probably have, oh, probably a couple hundred people. There’s only really two countries, I believe, right now where while polio is still a problem, Pakistan and Afghanistan. And Rotary is trying to get in there and they are, as helping with vaccination in those areas. Kind of tough because of terrain and also the politics of the area, but they’re doing their best. Beautiful day, probably going to be low 70s, sunny. A little overcast, but perfect walking weather. We got a 2.4 mile walk. It’s a beautiful park. This will be the first time I ever walked down here. Oh, I should also mention this is Don Wede representing Heartland Funding Incorporated, and our Illinois Valley Sunrise Rotary. We’re doing our part today to try to help awareness for polio eradication throughout the world. Mike, do you have any comments?
Mike Dudak:
Huh?
Don Wede :
This is Mike Dudak.
Mike Dudak:
Huh? Well, what has it been? About 40 some years now that Rotary has been trying to eradicate Polio?
Don Wede :
Yeah, I think they’re one of the main contributors to the decline in polio after the last 40 years.
Mike Dudak:
We had it down to two cases and then it came back.
Don Wede :
Yep. Yep. Mike is a past president of our Illinois Valley Sunrise Rotary, so he has been pretty knowledgeable about all this stuff. Okay. We’ll take one more scan around here. There’s Beth, our president. Beth is a realtor, local.
Beth:
Yeah, so is Todd.
Don Wede :
So is Todd.
Todd:
Coldwell.
Beth:
Yeah.
Don Wede :
Representing for their selves and their business. Don Wede signing off. Thank you for watching this video.
Beth:
Yeah.
