Don Wede: Hi, good afternoon. This is Don Wede with Heartland Funding, Inc. I’m here at the Peoria County Courthouse in Peoria, Illinois. Here’s old Abe behind me. Can you see Abe here? I guess he gave a famous speech here at the courthouse many years ago. Actually, in 1854, it says Lincoln draws the line. Abraham Lincoln delivered his pure speech on October 16th, 1854 in the midst of the struggle against slavery and extension here from the Peoria courthouse, he drew a line against the extension of slavery. Lincoln reaffirmed the ancient faith and creed of freedom and justice upon which this nation was founded. That’s kind of neat. I’m going to walk around here a little bit while I’m talking. I’m here today because I’m doing probate work. Some probate investigation.
What I do is go into the county circuit clerk’s office and jump on their computers and look at the different probate cases, case by case. Look at the case, and if there’s real estate in the probate estate, and it’s nice in Illinois in that they outline personal property and real estate, as far as an estimate of how much is in the estate. So, we know if they have real estate or not, so we’re not sending to somebody that does not have real property. So, we get that information loaded in the computer, then what we’ll do is send out a series of postcards and letters to the executor of the probate estate, and if they have an interest in selling that real estate, they can jump on our website. They can give us a call. They can get in contact with us and we can help them out solving a real estate problem.
So, I find it fun. I still do some of it myself. I have farmed some of it out, but I like to develop my own lists. In the Chicago land area, Cook, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, Will, Lake, Cook County, all those kinds. There’s so much competition up there, so I don’t even mess with the collar counties in the Chicago land area. I like the bigger cities in Illinois that don’t have the competition such as Sangamon County, Peoria County. I do Winnebago County and there’s a little competition there. Rock Island County, and of the smaller counties where I’m pretty much a rural person, so some of the smaller counties where I live also.
So, that’s what I’m doing today. I’m trying to help solve real estate problems and make a buck, of course. I mean, that’s what we’re in the business for. But Don Wede with Heartland Funding, Inc.
